3.7 How GSHC Protects Surrogate Mothers’ Privacy?
At GSHC Surrogacy, your privacy matters. We take great care to protect your personal and medical information throughout your surrogacy journey. Everything we do follows HIPAA standards, which means your details are only shared when absolutely necessary—and only with those directly involved in your care or the intended parents’ process.
Who Has Access to Your Medical Information?
Your full medical records are only shared with two parties: our agency (GSHC) for screening and matching purposes, and the IVF clinic chosen by the intended parents once you’ve been officially matched.
Intended parents do not see your full medical records. They only receive information that’s relevant and appropriate for moving forward in the journey.
What Intended Parents Can Know About Your Pregnancy History
Intended parents do have a right to understand basic information about your pregnancy history—this helps ensure a safe match and a healthy journey. They’ll receive a summary that includes:
- How many times you’ve been pregnant
- Whether you’ve had any miscarriages or abortions
- What kind of deliveries you’ve had (C-section, vaginal birth)
- Any major complications in past pregnancies
But again—they will not receive your full medical file. Just what’s needed to make sure everything is clear and safe for everyone involved.
Medical Updates During the Journey
Once you’ve signed a contract and are pregnant, intended parents will receive regular updates about this specific pregnancy. They’ll be informed about things like:
- Ultrasound results
- Medical updates from the IVF clinic or OB/GYN
- Any pregnancy-related health concerns
This helps them stay informed and involved in their baby’s development—while still respecting your privacy and boundaries.
What Other Personal Information Stays Private?
Psychological Evaluation
Intended parents are only told whether you passed your psychological screening. They do not see the full report, and no sensitive details are shared.
Background Check
If a surrogate doesn’t pass the background check, she simply won’t be matched. Intended parents are not given the report—they are only told if the candidate meets agency standards.
At GSHC Surrogacy & Egg Donation, we take your privacy seriously. Your personal and medical information is kept secure and only shared when necessary to support your journey. We follow HIPAA guidelines and handle every detail with care and respect—honoring your trust while keeping intended parents informed when needed.
