7.2 Why OB Appointments Matter in Surrogacy
Showing Up Is More Than a Requirement—It's a Responsibility
At GSHC Surrogacy Agency, we believe being a surrogate is more than carrying a child—it’s carrying trust, medical responsibility, and a commitment to the health of the baby and the success of the journey.
Whether it's your first journey or your third, one of the most critical responsibilities of a surrogate is simple: Make every OB appointment. Show up. Share the results.
1. OB Appointments Are Not Optional—They’re Essential in Every Surrogacy Journey
We understand things come up, but in surrogacy, missing appointments can have real consequences. We’ve seen the difference it makes when surrogates stay consistent with care—and we’ve also seen the risks when that doesn’t happen.
If you skip appointments, it can lead to:
- Risk to the baby’s health
- Violation of your surrogacy agreement
- Loss of trust from the intended parents and your care team
- Delays in compensation
- Ineligibility for future journeys with GSHC
When you stay on schedule, you help ensure:
- The baby’s growth and health are monitored properly
- Any concerns can be addressed early by your doctor
- Intended parents feel informed and reassured
- Payments are made on time
- You maintain your standing for future matches with our agency
2. After Every OB Appointment: What You Must Do
To keep everything on track, we ask that you do the following after each OB visit:
- Get a copy of your appointment summary.
This should include your weight, blood pressure, fetal heartbeat, lab results, ultrasound info (if applicable), and any notes from your doctor.
- Review it to make sure the information is complete and easy to read.
If anything’s unclear or missing, ask your clinic while you’re still there.
- Send it to your GSHC coordinator the same day.
Timely updates help avoid confusion, prevent delays, and keep everyone informed.
3. Being a Professional Surrogate Means Being Reliable
At GSHC, we’ll support you every step of the way—but part of that partnership means you show up, follow through, and stay in touch. This isn’t just about checklists or medical routines. It’s about keeping your word, taking care of the baby, and being someone we—and the intended parents—can count on.
Show up. Communicate. Keep your team in the loop. That’s what makes a great surrogate.
And when you do that, here’s what follows:
- Trust is earned
- The journey stays on track
- Your compensation is handled without delay
- And you build a reputation as one of GSHC’s most reliable surrogates
